What is Integrative Care?
Integrative care is an approach to care that seeks to integrate the best of Western scientific medicine with a broader understanding of the nature of illness, healing and wellness.

Integrative care is healing-oriented medicine that takes account of the whole person (body, mind, and spirit), including all aspects of lifestyle. It emphasizes the therapeutic relationship and makes use of all appropriate therapies, both conventional and alternative. – Dr. Andrew Weil

The defining principles of integrative care are:
· The patient-client and practitioner are partners in the healing process.
· The care addresses the whole person, including body, mind, and spirit in the context of relationships.
· Providers use all appropriate healing sciences to facilitate the body's innate healing response (often by referral and coordination of care).
· Practitioners of integrative care exemplify its principles and commit themselves to self-exploration and self-development through receiving therapeutic treatment in their own modality.

Emilio Anguiano, LCDC

Esther Perel says, 'what defines the quality of our lives is the quality of our relationships.'  When I graduated from Medical School in Mexico and started my private practice as a physician, I quickly realized that my patients were looking for more than my services regarding their physical symptoms. On their quest of healing and well-being they also needed to be listened to and understood about the emotional needs beyond their organic illnesses. I enjoy working with substance abuse problems (including legal problems), domestic/family violence and anger management education, and aid to friends or relatives of persons suffering from addiction (codependency).

I work with adult individuals and couples suffering from low self-esteem and depression. While many of my clients enjoy successful careers, they often feel they just aren't measuring up. We work on helping them live fuller, more meaningful lives — especially in their most important relationships. I particularly enjoy working with Highly Sensitive Persons and the LGBTQ community.

I believe the gateway to healing is the experience of truly being seen and accepted. My approach to therapy is centered around establishing, sustaining and enriching this experience for adults, teens and families. To do this, I draw on Interpersonal Neurobiology and relational attachment theory as well as my experience with EMDR, Somatic Experiencing and Eriksonian Hypnotherapy.

Cultivating consciousness and tuning into presence with awareness and compassion–I integrate spirituality into psychotherapy. These two pathways to healing are intimately connected, both offering important and necessary tools for deep healing and awakening. Psychotherapy employs tested processes to understand personality traits, events that create disturbance in our lives, and patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaving. Spirituality offers us the ability to encourage loving kindness with all that we are. It teaches us to nurture and develop the inner observer, present moment awareness, non-judgment, and heart-centered thinking. Therapy is a journey into the self and back into the world changed and transformed, with new perspectives and new ways of being. Cultivating intimacy with all that we are–light and dark, high and low, superficial and deep. All are welcome.
